Riding the Edge of Stillness

Noosa photographer capturing local surfer in the dunes with her surfboard

This image was captured in the dunes at dusk. The fading light brushed soft shadows across the sky, turning every grain of sand into texture and every curve of the board into sculpture.

What strikes me most is her expression. There’s strength there, but also surrender. She holds herself with a feminine power that feels timeless, a mermaid goddess rising from the earth, carrying not just a board but a sense of sovereignty. She is rooted, radiant, unapologetically herself.

I love photographing people in these pauses. When the salt air clings to the skin, when the weight of the board leans against the body, when nothing is posed, just felt. These are the moments where identity meets environment, where story and landscape merge.

Whether you surf or not, the invitation is the same: to stop, to look up, to feel the wind, and to carry your own “board”, whatever it is that connects you to yourself, with quiet strength and goddess-like grace.
